Tracey Coyle of American Colloid Company Wins Award

Congratulations to Tracey Coyle of American Colloid Company for receiving the "Jacques Cousteau Award" during their global award dinner in Chicago on Saturday. This award is presented to an individual within the company for "Protecting the Environment & Serving Our Communities".

Christmas Cash Giveaway - Week 1

The Perry County Chamber of Commerce along with the 11 participating businesses are proud to announce this year's Christmas Cash Giveaway. To win, shoppers must register at one of the participating merchants through December 20 to win Chamber gift certificates. The promotion is intended to encourage local shopping over the holiday season and give local residents some extra shopping money compliments of local businesses. The total cash to give away this year is $1,100. There will be a winner from each participating location each week.

The Chamber Announces the Taste of the Holidays

The Perry County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the “Taste of the Holidays” event on Tuesday, November 12th from 5:30 – 8:30 pm at the Schergens Community Center on 31st Street in Tell City. The cost of the event is $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce office or from a Board member.

Retailers and artisans are invited to set up booths to sell goods. Participants pay only $25 for an 8-foot booth space to decorate as you wish and one ticket to the event. A competition will be held for the best decorated booth. Booths are also asked donate an item valued at $25 for the silent auction. Businesses, organizations, and individuals are invited to donate items for the silent auction that will also be held that evening. Flyers, coupons, or samples of other items for sale may be displayed with the auction item.

The “Taste of the Holidays” event will include a free wine glass, wine tastings, food, live entertainment, shopping, silent auction, and more! Attendees can get their ticket stamped at each booth to be entered for a door prize. Wineries will be competing in a “Wine Cocktail” contest with the winner chosen by the attendees by ballot. Attendees will also vote on the best decorated booth by ballet.

To close the evening, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase a wine glass that may win a $250 prize basket.

Lulu's Prom & Bridal Ribbon Cutting Friday

The Perry County Chamber of Commerce will conduct a ribbon cutting for Lulu’s Prom & Bridal on Friday, November 1st at 5:00 pm to kick-off their grand opening. The grand opening celebration will take place on Saturday, November 2nd from 10:00am – 5:00pm and Sunday, November 3rd from noon – 5:00 pm. A fashion show will be held on Sunday at 2:00 pm.

Lulu’s Prom & Bridal is located at 1408 Main Street (the old Tell City Glass building) in Tell City. Store owner is Beth Hauser and employees are Kendall Hauser and Christine Hauser. Lulu’s Prom & Bridal opened on October 3, 2013. Lulu’s Prom & Bridal offers prom, bridal, special occasion and Mother of the Bride dresses, tuxedos, jewelry, veils and shoes. Store hours are Tuesday-Friday 10:00am – 7:00pm, Saturday 10:00am – 5:00pm and Sunday noon – 5:00 pm.

The public is invited to the grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting - please stop by to wish them well. Specials will be given to anyone purchasing a dress the day of the fashion show. Annual Chamber Membership Picnic - September 12th

The Perry County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting an Annual Membership Picnic on Thursday, September 12th at Mulzer Camp near Troy. The social hour will begin at 5:30 pm with dinner to follow at 6:30 pm. Reservations are due by Friday, September 6th.

All Chamber members are invited to attend.

June 4 Job Fair Planned

The Perry County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a job fair with area businesses on Tuesday, June 4th.  The job fair will be held at the Schergens Center from 1-6:00 pm.

All interested businesses are invited to setup booths promoting employment in their company.  Booth rental for Chamber members is $100 for large employers and $50 for small employers; non-members is $200 for large employers and $100 for small employers.  The job fair is free to educational institutions, workforce development agencies and local government.

Setup is available the morning of June 4th starting at noon at the Schergens Center.  One covered 8' table, 2 chairs, company identification sign (with logo if provided by the employer in advance) and an on-site interview area will be provided for each booth.

Winners Announced for the Chamber Award Dinner

The Perry County Chamber of Commerce held its 12th annual Business Awards Dinner on Tuesday. Awards were given in four categories: Large Business – over 25 employees; Small Business – up to 25 employees; Entrepreneurship and Applause Award.

The award winners were ATTC Manufacturing in the Large Business category, Winzerwald Winery in the Small Business Category, EverBody’s Fun and Fitness Center in the Entrepreneurship category, and Glenn Wood Hills Campgrounds in the Applause category. Also recognized for the Large Business category were Waupaca Foundry and WGS Global Services, in the Small Business category were Glenn’s Cleaning Service, Hoosier Southern Railroad, Kessner Interior, McFall Family Meats, Power Plant and Tell City Pretzel and for the Applause award Cannelton Foundation and VNA Plus. A big thanks goes to each of these businesses for what they do for Perry County.

2013 Award Nominations Announced

The Perry County Chamber of Commerce announces the nominations for the 2013 Chamber Award Dinner.  Awards are given in four categories:  Large Business - ATTC Manufacturing, Waupaca Foundry and WGS Global Services; Small Business and Entrepreneur - Engineer Associates, McFall Family Meats, Power Plant, Glenn's Cleaning Service, Fischer Furniture and Appliance, Kessner Interior, EverBody's Fun and Fitness Center, Perry County Port Authority, Tell City Pretzel and Winzerwald Winery; and Applause Award - Cannelton Foundation, Glenn Wood Hills Campground, Michael Elaman, CPA and VNA Plus.

The award winners will be chosen by an independent panel and will be announced at the 12th Annual Chamber Award Dinner on Tuesday, April 30, 2013.  The dinner will be held at the Schergens Center, 1140 31st Street in Tell City.  The social begins at 5:30 pm with a cash bar and dinner begins at 6:00 pm.  Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the Perry County Chamber of Commerce located at 601 Main Street, Suite A in Tell City.  Please RSVP by Thursday, April 25th.

Dinner sponsorships are also available:  Blue-$300-receives dinner seating for eight, display and/or brochures at each place setting and registration table, mention in programs, news releases and all other correspondence about the dinner; White-$200-receives dinner seating for four, mention in program, brochures at the registration table, news releases and all other correspondence about the dinner; and Red-$100-Sponsor receives dinner seating for two and mention in the program.  Sponsorships are also due by Thursday, April 25th.

Award Nominations Wanted!

The Perry County Chamber of Commerce is soliciting nominations for the 2013 Business of the Year.  Nominations are open for three categories:  Large, Small and Entrepreneur.  Awards will be given at our Award Dinner held later this spring - details will follow.

Rules - Anyone may nominate a business for "business of the year" in any of the three categories.  Businesses may self-nominate by submitting applications materials directly.  Information supplied will be provided to the Business Award Selection Committee.  Deadline for nominations is Thursday, February 28, 2013.  Announcement of the awards will be made at the Award Dinner.  All nominees will be announced in advance, however, all awards will be confidential until the Award Dinner.

Criteria for Selection -
Membership - The applicant must be a member of the Perry County Chamber of Commerce.

Categories - The large business chosen for teh award will have twenty-five or more full-time equivalent employees, the small business will have fewer than twenty-five full-time equivalent employees, an award will also be given for Entrepreneur of the Year.  Additionally, an award will be given for an Applause Award to a non-profit or individual that has gone above the norm to do great things for our community,.

Judging Criteria - Significance of employment to the community, product/service line, company image, employee development, contributions to the community, ways in which the company may be unique, management/leadership style, business growth, and special recognition/awards.
